I’m regularly asked to discuss media trends, how media is polarized, what that means for our Democratic system and how the political world operates accordingly.

The short answer: the media is polarized because the country is polarized. Chicken or egg? It’s hard to know.

The long answer: every day changes in media impact how we get our information. With more Americans wanting to get their news from “trusted sources,” the media landscape continues to grow with more choices from different perspectives. For conservatives, long thought to be minorities within the media landscape, there’s a growing center-right media contingent to try to equalize the mainstream and left-wing media.

The Trump White House has increased this polarization, elevated conservative media options and increased the need for the entire echo system to prioritize speaking to them.

Who does this apply to?

Are you a thought leader trying to grow your voice? Conservative, mainstream or liberal, all eyes are on the conservative media. If you aren’t talking to them, you are leaving out a large portion of the country and opportunities to increase your visibility.

Are you a company with an issue before some branch of the government? Are you putting pressure on conservative elected officials through conservative media?

Are you an advocacy group looking to highlight your issue? Do you know how to navigate the conservative media so your issue is elevated in those circles?

Who is the conservative media?

The obvious: Fox News. They are still the behemoth but there are others growing around them. Newsmax, some shows on News Nation, some podcasts on Fox Nation, Tomi Lahren, Megyn Kelly, etc. Conservative radio is still alive and well with the likes of Hugh Hewitt, Clay and Buck and many more.

Let us know how we can help

I’ve been working with these entities for years and as with anything in this world, it’s all about relationships. People from old conservative media outlets now work at the new ones and vice versa.

The team at K2 works with those people every day. We understand what they need and want and we know how to help you navigate.

Just as you need a thoughtful, intentional social media strategy, the same holds true for conservative media. Find someone who can wake up every day, build relationships and speak to a large and very important audience.
