St. Paul Police Foundation
Since the end of 2019, K2 has been leading Our Children’s effort to pass a constitutional amendment through the state legislature and put it on the ballot in Minnesota. K2 helped set up the 501c4 entity and leads daily administrative, accounting, and legal services, including managing contractors, coordinating fundraising, and budgets.
They also lead our coordination with major partners – the Minnesota Business Partnership, the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, CEOAction and other corporate partners.
K2 also leads our strategic communications efforts from development of messaging to execution on social media, through digital marketing, to press, policymakers and the public. Since working with K2, we have consistently gained momentum. As a large bipartisan organization with a diverse list of partners, we have a great story to tell, and K2 has been instrumental in telling it.
Since 2020, K2 has led the Judicial Fairness Project (JFP), Illinois’ only government watchdog dedicated to reforming the judiciary. JFP is a 501(c)(4) organization committed to educating Illinoisans about the importance of an independent and fair judiciary. K2 has led all strategy, communications, grassroots engagement, and press relations for the non-profit and, at the same time, worked with allied organizations on a comprehensive political effort to defeat the retention of a sitting Supreme Court justice in 2020 for the first time in Illinois history.
In just two years, K2 helped JFP get off the ground, raise more than $1.5 million, and deploy a sophisticated grassroots and digital operation to build support for judicial reform in Illinois. The organization is now known statewide by political insiders, press, and citizens alike for its success in creating a successful grassroots movement for judicial reform.
With two open Supreme Court districts on the ballot in November 2022 and the Democratic court majority up for grabs for the first time in 60 years, K2 will lead a coalition of JFP and other allied organizations in a coordinated and robust public affairs effort that will be one of the most closely watched political efforts in Illinois.
K2 has been the management company for the Saint Paul Police Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity which exists to support the Saint Paul Police Department. Our firm started working with SPPF in 2020, at the height of the pandemic and civil unrest with law enforcement in our state and country. K2 established best practices in three key areas: 1) operations 2) communications and 3) fundraising.
In the operations category, K2 manages the committee structure for the foundation which includes board meetings, committee meetings, budget and financial planning and the annual non-profit audit. The operations for a nonprofit cannot exist without continued funding and a well executed communications plan. K2 used their fundraising expertise to set up a process for fundraising outreach, CRM management, prospective donor identification, membership outreach, community engagement events, management of fundraising events, non-profit giving days like Give to the Max day and other fundraising tactics.
K2 has successfully managed this non-profit by setting up a solid foundation with processes to ensure the foundation can operate for the long term benefit of the Saint Paul Police.
